Ash is a therapeutic journaling app built around the metaphor of fire. You choose a guided ritual — anger, anxiety, grief, heartbreak, and more — write through structured phases, then watch your words burn away in a cathartic animation. It's a tool for emotional release, not record-keeping.
No. Your journal text is never saved, stored, or transmitted anywhere. It exists only in your device's memory while you're writing and is permanently discarded after the burn. There is no way to recover it — by design.
Ash Pro is an optional subscription that unlocks all 13 guided rituals, unlimited burns, and the full garden experience. You can try premium features with 5 free burns before deciding.
Ash Pro subscriptions are managed through Apple or Google. To cancel:
You'll continue to have access until the end of your current billing period.
Voice journaling uses your device's speech recognition. Make sure you've granted Ash microphone and speech recognition permissions in your device settings. If it still isn't working, try restarting the app. Some devices may require an internet connection for speech recognition on first use.
Ash stores only minimal preferences locally: your trial burn count, garden seeds (ritual type and basic metadata — never journal text), and your selected garden theme. None of this data is sent to any server. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Garden data is stored locally on your device and is not synced to the cloud. If you switch devices, your garden will start fresh. This is a deliberate choice to protect your privacy.
